Urgent Legislative Request!

SB 966 (Northam): Public schools; physical education requirement

We urgently need your help to ensure SB 966 is signed by Governor McDonnell and becomes law. There is a lot of pressure for the Governor to veto this legislation. Please take a few minutes to call his office or send the draft e-mail message below.

Dear Governor McDonnell:

I am strongly urging you to please sign SB 966 (Northam) or allow it to become law. This legislation will require that public schools offer at least 150 minutes of physical education in grades K-eight. As a pediatrician, I understand the severity of childhood obesity and the threat it is to all children and families in Virginia. This legislation will help address this serious problem and take a critical step toward reducing the alarming rates of childhood obesity in the Commonwealth. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
